Philadelphia Flower Show
This past Sunday, March 10, 2019 I was able to attend The Philadelphia Flower Show and it was a unique way to spend the day. The Flower Show took place from Saturday, March 2 – Sunday, March 10.
The Philadelphia Flower Show had extremely detail oriented flower displays in a large convention room. Each design had to be made with thousands of tiny flowers perfectly organized in a different array of assortments.
The fun part about this Flower Show is not only did the whole room smell extremely good from the flowers but the exhibits were slightly interactive and you could take a bunch of photos and who doesn’t love taking photos now and days?!
One of my favorite displays had to have been the flowers hanging from the ceiling. Between the design and the whimsical music you truly felt as if you entered in a different world of beauty and charm.
Besides just flowers this show also had about 50 vendors to explore which included dog treats all the way from professionally made honey from bee keepers. My favorite part of course was all the free samples, that alone made the experience fun to explore! Additionally, this event had a “Wine and Spirits” booth where you could drink free wine. Who doesn’t like free alcohol?! On Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10 they even had Robert Irvine from the popular Food Network shows “Dinner Impossible” and “Restaurant Impossible”.
One of my favorite parts of the Flower Festival was the Butterfly Exhibit. This was a neat experience where you were given a sugar stick and entered a room full of hundreds of butterflies who willing and happily landed on you!
Overall I would say we had a pretty nice time! It was something fun and different to do than the typical lazy Sunday. The Flower Show probably wasn’t as impressive as I thought it would be but I would still recommend it if you have a free weekend. I’m not sure when it will be held in 2020 but I wouldn’t be surprised if it took place in March again.
I think if I were to go back I would either do the Garden Tea or attend opening night. The Garden Tea is in a separate room where you are surrounded by flowers and soothing music. You are given petite sandwiches to munch on along with pastries and of course tea. On the other hand, the opening night involved live music, free alcohol, and having the whole room lit up while you and a limited number of ticket purchasers get to see the whole event before the rest of the public.
Either way, I’ll definitely be keeping a pulse on The Philadelphia Flower Show for next year!
