We’re in the Third Trimester!
It is hard to believe that the third trimester is already here for John and I. We are so blessed with this soon-to-be son and for a pregnancy that has been relatively easy. Now that today marks the third trimester that means we are only 12 weeks away from the birth of our son. As of now, he is as big as a head of lettuce and weighs over 2 pounds, so exciting! His kicks are getting strong which is amazing to experience. Unfortunately, as beautiful as pregnancy is, my feet are swelling, acid reflux is a real awful thing, I’m becoming more tired, my emotions have me tearing up at corny movies, getting more acne and my peeing is becoming much more frequent. Other than this, it’s been a lovely time!
I wanted to write a small post to give everyone a general update on our pregnancy. I actually first started feeling symptoms on our honeymoon in September and even took a pregnancy on the honeymoon but it came back negative. I guess that’s what happens when you pay for a $5.00 Bahama test that is probably expired, haha. We took 2 more, a day apart for each, when we got home and they both were positive!
We told my parents first with a fortune cookie. They opened the cookie and inside it said “You are going to be a grandpa” and “You are going to be a grandma.”
We told John’s family over video since they live far away but my brother happened to be visiting in person so we told him with a golf towel.
Everyone else was told around 12 weeks, which was also Thanksgiving. A great way to celebrate the holidays!
We did end up doing a small gender reveal in person and via zoom before Christmas so everyone could attend in some way. John and I already knew the gender, as John wanted to know first, but it was a fun surprise for everyone else! We actually both wanted a boy as our first, so this was exciting. Of course, we would be happy no matter what the child was, as long as they are healthy and happy.
This has been such a wonderful journey and John has been such a caring husband through it all. He’s been patient, understanding and more loving than ever. He encouraged me to paint a mural in our nursey and I am so glad he gave me a push to do it because it feels so special now. I love you babe.
Our baby in the womb has been very active and our anatomy scan at 20 weeks went amazing. They checked all his fingers, toes, chambers of his heart etc. Apparently, now he can hear voices/recognize them, has fingernails (eeek), hair, and is going to be packing on the pounds this last trimester!
With so many events coming up so quickly the next few months, we decided to go on a babymoon, to spend time alone together just the two of us before the baby arrives. I am so glad we did this and thank everyone who encouraged me to do so. It was lovely!
I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone at our baby shower and do our maternity photoshoot to have pictures to always remember my belly by. So many exciting events to come and everyone has made us feel so incredibly loved. This baby is already so loved, he has no idea.
We can’t wait to meet you soon Baby C and everyone already loves you so much!
