Wedding Wednesday #3 – Saying Yes To Your Dress!
We are less than 3 months out and there is still so much to do! It’s crazy! One of the most fun things for me was picking out my wedding dress and my girl’s bridesmaid dresses. I was so excited to go dress shopping and honestly hoped I would go to a few different bridal stores but funny enough I found my dress in the first store I stepped into! Not only that but it was the 4th dress I tried on. People say when they find their dress they know it’s “the one.” I didn’t believe it until it happened to me! I actually went to one other store after I found my dress just to ensure I wasn’t jumping the gun but I couldn’t get the original dress out of my head so I went back and bought it!
It was so exciting to share this moment with some of the most important women in my life. I couldn’t have been more happy than to have had this special moment with them all. While giving away my money for the dress of my dreams we popped open the champagne to celebrate!
I got my dress from a cute bridal store called “Aleana’s Bridal Shop.” Without being bias, I had such a wonderful experience here. The staff followed my budget to a tee, so much so I came under budget by a decent amount. It was so nice to work with employees who actually took my budget into consideration and didn’t try to make me fall in love with a dress that was overpriced! They also are so accommodating and kind. I have done follow ups with them and one dress fitting so far and knowing I live over an hour away they let me come into the store before opening hours to accommodate my situation. This is the best place to look for a dress and I couldn’t have asked for a better team.
Additionally, when planning your wedding, it is important figuring out your color scheme and a lot of that starts with choosing your bridesmaid dress colors. This is such a fun time to tell your friends what they have to wear, haha jk. In all seriousness it was SO important for me to give my girls as many options as possible and a couple of colors to choose from.
If you’re like me and not picky AT ALL that isn’t always the best way to go! I learned it’s good to form some type of idea of what you really want because everyone wants guidance. With that being said, I knew I had to make some decisions. Since I have bridesmaids from all different locations I automatically knew I should go with David’s Bridal since it is a franchise all over the United States.
I’m getting married in April and wanted to do beautiful light spring colors. I also have 2 maids of honors and wanted them to stand out so they received different colors than the rest of the girls, but the bridesmaids still got to choose between 2 different colors of their liking and about 15 different dress styles. One thing I did learn is if you give your girls the option to choose dress styles in different fabrics BEWARE. Though the colors might be the same for all fabrics the color will be darker or lighter depending on how that fabric processes the color itself. This helped me determine to move forward with only 1 style of fabric, but like I said my girls still had about 15 dresses to choose from.
I tried to make group appointments for all my girls to attend together so I could be there and give any opinions or advice. It was such a fun bonding experience as well and everyone looked beautiful. I think my favorite part about having so many options is everyone seems happy about their dresses which was SO important to me. If they are going to spend money on a dress I want them to hopefully love it and feel beautiful. Sure it’s my day, but they are a part of it and I want them to feel loved and beautiful. I wanted to make sure I was flexible so they knew I appreciated them even agreeing to be in my wedding as it can be a lot of responsibility and expensive!
I’m so thankful for everyone in my bridal party and how supportive they have been. It truly makes me happy knowing that I have so many of my closest friends standing next to me on my big day. I can’t wait to share all the photos with you all! Only 80 days to go!
